WOMEN EMPOWERMENT CELL

Women Empowerment Cell aims to empower girl students and faculty, enhance their understanding of issues related to women and to make the college campus a safe place for girls and women and to address the practical issues related to the welfare and equal opportunities for Women faculty, staff and students. The cell works to promote gender sensitivity and conduct diverse programmes to educate and produce harmonious atmosphere on the campus. It works for the welfare of the students and faculty towards preparing them in to competent professionals to take up greater challenges in the academic sphere. With a view to take up women’s issues and problems, the cell aims at creating awareness of their rights and duties. It also provides a platform for women to share their experiences and views regarding their status in the society. Added to it suggestions for improvement and empowerment among themselves has been given. Aiming at intellectual and social upliftment of the female students, the cell stands for facilitating women’s empowerment through guest lectures, seminars, awareness programs and other welfare activities.

Mission:

 

  • Creating awareness among the students about the social, legal, and constitutional rights of women to prevent the exploitation based on gender.
  • Spreading awareness on sexual, physical, and mental violence and to further equip with the strength to fight against them.
  • Encouraging female students to be self-reliant and economically independent through giving business opportunities.
  • Providing a platform to share and showcase their ideas and views for a professional success.
     

Objectives:

  • The main objective of WEC is to investigate the grievances of teaching staff, non-teaching staff and students especially in cases of gender discrimination and sexual harassment.
  • To identify and promote the strong leadership and growth of women as individuals.
  • To develop positive self-esteem and confidence in the women in building their capacity.
  • Training the students to be self-reliant and economically independent by utilizing the available opportunities and resources.
